Anyone have any idea what this is? It is 12 inches long and 3 inches wide at its widest point. The spring attachments on the ends are a real puzzle. A helmet chinstrap...maybe? I have no clue. It has CAT. No. YA4395. and J.F.B. stamped under the buckle strap Attachments:

The YA prefix should make it communications equipment related, but I'll have to check the VAOS to find out exactly what it is.

Many of these straps seem to have been reconditioned post-WWII as Canadian Civil Defence armbands.
