Hi, I'm registred to show you the French Mills equipement used during the Great War. Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting. That's the kind of information I hoped would be attracted here. I've never seen any of this equipment except in a Mills catalog.

We've been looking at this one a lot! A few period photos show French soldiers wearing this equipment, but this is the first time I've seen any surviving examples. It's not Mills-Bruzon, which M.E. Co. designed and trialled for the French, but the integrally woven flat loop belting and the Mills loop-and-olivet buckle certainly indicate Mills production. Possibly it was made under contract for France by the US Mills Woven Cartridge Belt Company. Unfortunately, no foreign contract records for the US firm seem to have survived.
